5 prostitutes murdered in England - shouldnt it be 5 women found murdered!! It doesnt make them less of a person. When does your job title come in to this.

In most cases, I would agree with you, but in this case I disagree. The reason the occupation is given is because the killer is obviously acting out against a certain type of woman. This does not mean that he cannot attack (or hasn't attacked) other women, but it appears that his attacks are dominated by psychological urges and fantasies directed towards a specific population group.

If he was targeting lorry drivers, transients, lady electricians, or children instead, the absence of those facts would make the killer seem more random (and thus panic the population even more) than he might be. By specifying, and revealing, the kinds of victims so far, not only can the police divert more attention in a more probable arena, but the public who participate in that arena might be more vigilant, or remember some detail, and thus lead to an arrest. Otherwise, every young woman who meets a guy who leers at her might be calling in her info. If it happened in a certain spot, or some other activity occured that had some relevance (like him calling her a worthless sl** and wh***), then the police can prioritize that incident, and see if it is productive or not.

It doesn't make them any less of a person but it is something that they all happen to have in common. It would be the same if they happened to be librarians- thay would say 5 librarians found dead. It is just a factor that connects them all together. Obviously whoever is doing this is targeting these particular people for some reason of their own and the fact that they all work in the same industry must have something to do with thaqt. That is all.

Whenever some one is reported as being dead in the paper they are usually refered to by their job title. For example, A bank clerk found hanged by his testicles in glouster yesterday... This isn't meant to be discrimitive, but it gives the reader a good idea about what the person was like and their station in life etc. I think what is discusting is the way that this world is getting so PC that news papers are going to be too scared to actually print any news!

Perhaps to make other prostitues aware of the possible dangers that they face. The media have a field day with these types of cases, they don't really care who you are as long as they get their story.

It's because the killer has a theme. If they were all dentists or hairdressers it'd be the same.

What's sad is one coloumnist who basically implied it's not as bad as killing "normal" women because they'd probably be dead within the year from drug abuse!
