First of all, it doesn't change the speed that the ball hits you. If the ball is travelling at 40mph, it's still going to hit at 40mph whether you're moving or not.

Basically what it does is gradually slow the ball down, as opposed to having it stop immediately. It's still coming at the same speed, it's just that the resistance of the object it's hitting is lessened.

It's simple physics.

cause when you move your hand, the ball isnt hitting it as fast. say the ball is moving at 40 miles per hour, you catch it with a fixed hand, its hitting at 40 mph. if your hand is moving at 25 mph, the ball only hits it at 15 mph.

IT IS SIMILAR TO ROLLING WITH A PUNCH. IT CUTS DOWN ON THE POWER/VELOCITY.
