This actually happened to me. Very annoying.
If I were you, I'd try calling around Auto-electricians until you found someone who'd be able to come out and help- even if it means installation of a new immobiliser.
If you're on a budget- get a girl to do the ringing and use some sob story- most tradesmen are pretty soft at heart so I'm sure they may even let you get away with a six-pack of nice beer! I used this trick with an electrician and he fixed my oven (no- the kind used for cooking food!) for a six-pack!
It may take one or two days to sort out fully so if you urgently need the car, I'd suggest a rental until your car is sorted.
Cheers- best of luck- it's no big deal and easily fixed.

Try locking the car with the key, then press the unlock button on the fob 5 times at 1 second intervals. That should re-sync the fob. If this doesn't work, see if you still have the emergency key access code in the handbook. it is a sequence of key turns in the drivers door lock, this disables the immobiliser. if you don't have the EKA code, you will have to get a replacement fob programmed to the car. any auto electrician will be able to do that for about £50 or so. Look in the yellow pages.

take it to the local dealership or make an insurance claim if you have full comprehensive insurance as depending on your cover you may be able to get a replacement car for christmas, it may only be a cosa but better than nothing right? and then you only have to pay your excess as an immobilizer could be expensive to replace.

This happened to me. If you don't have a spare fob you will have to have it disconnected.I found someone in the yellow pages and took him an hour to disconnect and charged me £100 for the privilege. Good Luck
