She should always be able to feel it if she knows where to look :)
Seriously, the tampon can only ever get as far as the cervix, which is closed to all but sperm unless she's about to give birth.

Reading the leaflet enclosed in the packaging will explain that a tampon cannot get lost inside a womans body, the opening at the top of the virgina is far too small to allow one to pass through. Tampons can be worn for around 4 - 6 hours a time, and that wearing one overnight is also possible, use a new one as you go to bed and set the alarm for 6 hours time. It is essential that they are changed at around the reccomended time to restrict the possible occurance of TSS.

When I was using tampons, I had a little miss-hap once; I had worn one for bed, and got up early the next morning (we were moving my uncle that day) and went to the loo to change, but forgot to take the old one out. (I was half asleep). There is no need to panic if such an experience happens. Take the new one out, and you may have to find the string of the old one to get it out. Dont panic if you dont find it at first, try not to worrry as this can cause your muscle to tense, and thus make it harder to locate. If you still cannot locate it after 30 mins, go to your local hospital and they will help you. Dont be shy, these things happen, especially in young women who have just started using this product.

It can be very dangerous for a woman to forget to take a tampon out. A condition called Toxic Shock can develop and can result in death, many females have died as a result of this. If a tampon did get pushed in and forgot about a visit to the doctors or hospital would be necessary to have it removed.

Yes you can effectively lose tampons. It is important to always check there is a string attached before inserting. A friend recently was experiencing an odd odour which turned out to be caused by a forgotten tampon which had been there for at least one month!

no. Women wear them to bed all the time, theres no reason it should get lost, theres no where for it to go! Maybe the string has slipped up inside, she would just ned to feel around a bit.
