I hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life. It's a shame we don't have the death sentence anymore... Mind you, he deserves worse than that.

Who thumbed me down for saying the murderer is scum?

At 5am this morning another man was arrested so if this continues where they are arresting others then its difficult to say your glad. I live in Ipswich and the atmosphere is still very much the same. Even though they have 2 people being questioned, I can imagine until they have actually charged someone it will still be the same attitude. All I can say is that I will be glad when they have got the person or persons and they have been charged for the murders but until then no-one is safe.

Oh, and to those sick people who think it is a quick way of making fun of the matter by sending out disgustinging jokes and putting sick questions on here, lets just hope this doesn't happen on your doorstep or to someone you know because no-one deserves that no matter what. Its no laughing matter and whoever thinks that 5 innocent females who lost their lives at such a young age, who have left their families behind, is funny are just as sick minded as whoever it is that killed them. IT IS NOT JOKE and I am not laughing!!

I don't think we can conclusively assume that this is the killer. This man has yet to be questioned under caution. Lest not forget that many people were interviewed under caution for the Yorkshire Ripper murders, Peter Sutcliffe was questioned and released more than once. What I'm trying to say is when someone is officially charged with the murders the women of Ipswich can breathe a sigh of relief and know that the man has been caught. That is when everything will come to light.

His ID has hit the news services

A man who grew up in Norwich was today arrested for the murder of all five prostitutes in Ipswich.

The man is believed to be 37-year-old supermarket worker Tom Stephens - who yesterday insisted he was innocent in an interview with a Sunday newspaper.

He was arrested at his home in Trimley, near Felixstowe, Suffolk, at 7.20am today and is being held at an unnamed police station in Suffolk, where he was due to be questioned later today.

His home was just two miles from where the bodies of Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls were discovered.

The announcement about the arrest was made in a surprise Suffolk police press conference at 9.30am.

Detective Chief Superintendent Stewart Gull said: “A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering all five women, Gemma Adams, Tania Nicol, Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls.

“The man is currently in custody at a police station in Suffolk where he will be questioned about the deaths later today.”

I am glad. Why should any woman be murdered for this? It is her right. Besides, is the attorney general's decision to stop investigating a case of bribery-in order to maintain Britain's relationship with Saudi Arabia-more honorable then anything?

Just because someone has been arrested doesn't mean it IS the person the police are seeking, but that they have strong suspiscions ONLY.
This person may be released after questioning.
