I waited in line yesterday at the Nintendo store in New York and was one of the 600 or so who got one.
That being said, I can say with certainty that if you can get BOTH the Wii and the 360, you will achieve gaming nirvana.
As far as I know, big titles such as GTA aren't specific to the PS3 anymore (Metal Gear is a PS3 title) but a number of PS3 only games will be on the 360 as well.
The Wii is a completely different gaming experience. The focus on the Wii is 'socializing', as in multiplayer is almost always more fun than the single player experience. I'm sure that will change once we have more third party titles, but for right now, if you could, aim for both.
I say that because it's 100% based on what kind of games you play. The Wii has a lot of pick up and play, lots of fun but not necessarily in depth games (exception: Zelda). Again, when there are more titles, this will probably change, though, if it's anything like the Gamecube and DS, probably not.
The 360 will by and large have a lot of more 'adult' games, games geared primarily (or only) towards the single player.
Ports are excluded from this opinion.
Neil Thompson basically summed it up pretty well in my mind (I don't agree with his graphics comment). Check it out here.

I guess the best answer is, what kind of games do you like? What do you like playing regularly? From that I think you can make a decision.

Depends on which is the console you really want! I have an Xbox 360, and love it, but I'm still going to get a Wii sometime in the New Year cos it seems so different!
Xbox does seem to be a bit more 'serious' than Wii, but then that's why the Wii appeals to me - I like to have fun!
If what you really want is a Wii, then wait until it's back in stock.

Wii has no complications, yet no highway fighter 4. in case you do not opt for to pay for on line then u may opt for to purchase PS3 360 had plenty off blunders. RRod e74 and it scratches disks, in spite of the undeniable fact that it does have more beneficial exclusives than ps3 and the controller is larger. wii also has undesirable pics, and that i imagine the internet expenditures to hitch. Verdict: 360: more interior your budget, more beneficial video games, yet has rrod and different blunders Ps3,free internet, sturdy pics, Blu ray participant also, yet some can get YLOD Wii: No authentic blunders, thrilling to play activities video games on, yet undesirable pics and almost no sturdy video games purchase a ps3

It's all about money man.
If you're on a somewhat limited budget, you can get a Wii, extra controllers and 2 games for 400 bucks.
You get just a 360 starter kit for 400 bucks.
All about the Benjamins.

I am a PC gamer who has played consoles off and on, and none of them have really done anything that could not be done on the PC, UNTIL THE WII. While the graphics are not killer (like PS3 and Halo console), it is so much FUN to play it does not matter. The controls/movement are natural, and like all good ideas, you will wonder why it took so long for anyone to do this.
