People who deny the fact of the birth of Jesus, point to the date and say it could not have happened then, true, however December the 25th was the agreed date in the Western Church, and the Eastern Church have a different date in January. It is not the date, but the fact that is important. Remember, Jesus is the reason for the Season.

Go to packed Churches at Christmas and Easter time, and you will see that Christ is very much In Christmas. And there are thousands more Christian believers who don't attend Church (more's the pity). Pray for the many of other faiths or none who don't know the Lord Jesus - that will help to keep the Soul of the U.K.alive.

What facts?
The fact that jesus is a name given to a myth that was drafted onto the ancient Egyptian man-god myth in order to make that myth palatable to the masses?
The fact that if there actually was such an individual, astronomers have shown that his birth date would be in the middle of spring?
Or the fact that some people are so gullible that they find it impossible to question anything and are willing to swallow anything hook, line and sinker, no matter how irrational it may be?
Here's the only relevant fact - that, as you stated, all people are entitled to their own beliefs and nobody should be forced to abandon their faith and it's traditions. That includes everyone who is not christian.

The country is becoming more a secular dictatorship everyday . Its Christ -Mass Not Winterval or some other Neo Pagan Festival the celebration of Jesus's birth was celebrated by the very early Christians around this time of year before the Roman Church yes there was a pagan festival as well but that has no relevance. With out Christ its just a period of self indulgent materialism. Its good to see people are waking up and the Church services are going tobe packed this year.

No, not lost it's soul, but it's guts. Too many people make it easy to step on their feet. Whoever is worried about being socially correct rather than expressing their religious beliefs are the ones at fault. 95% of the people in the US celebrate Christmas. They are starting to take a stand, and Christmas is making a come back. Don't do business with stores that won't say Merry Christmas. Everyone understands money. Hurt them in the wallet and they will take notice. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

First of all, this time of year--at least in England and other parts of Europe--was the time when indiginous religions celebrated life and fertility so really, Christ was never in it since, according to those Biblical scholars who know about these things, he was born early in the year, mid to late January. However, to answer the serious part of your question, of course nobody should be forced to abandon their faith and traditions (whatever they are), nor should others be forced to practise any faith against their will. I think the most important thing is to have a faith, whatever it is.
So, Merry Christmas! God bless us one and all!

All this paper talk of banning the Christ part of Christmas is complete rubbish. There is no genuine, documented case of a company, council or any other body in the UK trying to stop Christians celebrating Christmas (see link below).
But that doesn't mean we Atheists shouldn't have our annual festival of eating, drinking and conspicuous consumption at the same time!

christmas has never been about christ or religion. It has always been about love, giving and forgivness. That will never change!!
Not only is it impossible for Christ to have been born on the day (see link and quote below) but come on people believe in yourself before some one who you have never met and most likely never will.
Quote "nobody should be forced to abandon their faith, and its traditions." and no one should be forced into someone elses belives or religion. Which is why I can not belive in a god that asks it's members to 'convert' people to there religion..... All religions are only there for 1 reason, the same as rules and government, to control people, it a form of brain washing....

When a government forces people-especially those who lived in the country for generations-to abandon their faith & traditions, and when a govenment-or its attorney general-decide to stop an investigation into a case of alleged bribary, because that could harm the relationship with a fanatic Islamic absolute monarchy, then that government is a whore government (I am using the word whore-not prostitute or anything-on purpose).

if the religions can not agree when he was born then why should people believe it ever happened , because it was written in a book is not the answer as many thing have been faked , and it is mostly done to benefit mans greed for money and power , religion has just put man against man , i think myself that religion is the biggest cause of peoples death ever there should be a government warning on all of the religious book and information
