Pewter is an alloy of tin and iron, specifically to minimise oxidisation. So it doesn't rust per se, but it does lose its lustre over time and may need to be buffed now and again to get back that pearlescent effect.

It doesn't rust but it does tarnish. You can clean it with a silver polish and a soft cotton cloth. most jewellers or pewter suppliers will sell silver polish but it may be cheaper at some supermarkets.

No it doesn't rust but it gets a tarnish on it from air exposure. It polishes or washes off quite easily.

actually to respond to Blondie, iron "rusts" but many metals oxidize. it is generally referred to as corrosion or rust, but for example copper oxidizes to a green color (statue of liberty, water pipes) and brass (copper and zinc alloy) has a mixture of green and brown "rusts". Pewter has a very slow corrosion and it doesnt affect the density of a pewter piece like iron would (that is to say the corrosion doesnt expand like iron oxide does)

No, only iron rusts as its the reaction of iron and air with moisture added to speed the process up.

It doesn't "rust" but it can oxidize just like silver and turn black.

no but if it loses some of its shine you can buff it with a soft cloth or a silver jewelry cloth
