Well, there's two reasons for this... either a page you're visiting is creating these pop-ups, or you have spyware on your system.

Or both... if you use IE.

My suggestions:

1.) Grab Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
Install it, update it and run it.
Scan for Spyware. Also - "Immunize" your system.

2.) If you're running Windows grab a firewall like Zonealarm (the free version works great). http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

3.) Drop Internet Explorer from daily use - it's a serious security hazard. Seriously! Feel free to look at some of the computer magazine sites.

4.) Grab Firefox - http://getfirefox.com/
If you're not into computers it'll save you from spyware infestations, phishing scams, speed up your surfing and bring you into the 21st century. (IE6's over 5 years old)
If you're into tinkering / exploring your programs you'll be amazed at what you can do! Block banners, flash ads and iframe ads. Controls for your music player from your browser. Change how Firefox looks... you name it, you can do it!

Feel free to ask me questions, I love to help!

Quick smash your PC to pieces with a hammer - no more pop ups ever.

Or install ad-aware and run it that should do the trick.

It's spyware got into your machine. Try Ad-Aware or any other good remover.
