The way you are describing that shot sounds like the awkward motion of Leanndro Barbosa and Shawn Marion. Both can get really hot and are good shooters, but are streaky because they have to find a good rhythm. If you know your rhythm, then your shooting is fine. All that matters is that you consistently put the ball in the basket - if you don't, then fix your shot. Keep on draining 'em, baby.

I know someone who shoots exactly the same way you do. Your shooting technique is wrong but you can put in more shots more consistently because you're shooting the ball with the same motion as if you were making a pass, so naturally you're somewhat more accurate. But, you will be easier to block because you release it lower so if you want to really play well, learn the appropriate techinique and start practicing and getting yourself used to it

Shooting is about confidence. If you are comfortable with your shot don't change it. Good examples are Reggie Miller and Michael Adams. Both shoot the basketball with unorthodox shooting styles but they're two of the best shooters of all time.

Use one hand to guide and the other to shoot... and make sure to folow through with your shot. But don't shot with both hands. One hand just guides the shot, while the other guides it in the direction you want it to go...
