The Government has announced plans to make huge cuts to the amount of benefits being claimed by the long term unemployed.
There are certain people who always seem to get involved in riots, the type who haven't worked for years and have no intention in working, u know who i mean here.
Are they going to kick off over this?
My personal feelings are this is about 10years too late, a large percentage of these people are getting paid for doing nothing when they are capable of work.
There will always be a small percentage who cannot work for various reasons, maybe full time carers for example.
I would and HAVE worked for minimun wage before, i think a lot of these people should be made to give up time working on the enviroment for example, clearing river banks, helping charities, just anything to justify the fact WE, the working of this country are paying for these people.
Don't get me wrong, i'm talking here about long term real hard core here, maybe 5 years or more.

I wonder just how effective it will be, don't get me wrong we need as many spongers as possible off benefits, because yes we do pay for it. I am concerned that there are so many types of spongers, people who come from outside UK who pitch up here & go straight on benifits that perhaps we should cut all payments and only offer food & shelter.
I have worked all my life and even when the times have been tough I have never been on benifits, so it can be done.

Don't beat about the bush, 5 minutes or more is plenty. In the 30 years since I left school I was on the so called dole for 3 days before I landed my first Job, since then I have never had an unpaid day in my life. The problem now is that by getting one benefit ( job seekers) the door opens to so many more, council tax benefit, free school meals, to name just two. Scrap the whole damn system, no benefits to anyone is my immediate gut reaction, but to be realistic there are those that need the support of the system, but it should be in the form they need it and not in cash. Riots, not a hope, a few will no doubt complain, but let the other 58.5 million non claimants complain louder, it's about time we did

I think you need to go back to the news... The Government has announced a review of the benefits system as they would like to find ways to get more people back into work. One of the potential suggestions has been to cut benefits for people who refuse to look for work.
There is currently no suggestion that this is actually going to happen, it would meet massive resistance in parliament and would be very difficult for a government to pass.
Its more likely that the next government (Cameron or Brown) will look at the results of the review and take some kind of action to help people like carers and mum's to work more. That seems to be where its going.
So, as much as I am sure you would love a bit of anarchy. This isn't going to bring it on I'm afraid.

If they can riot why can't they work at something?
I agree we shouldn't give people money for doing nothing. They should have to do a few hours a week in hospitals or looking after old people.

I totally agree with the Government, as it us tax payers who are funding these lazy good for nothings, This is not a slur on those people who cannot work for one reason or another just on those who can work but won't.

You really think those lazy tax dodging, soap dodging, work dodging sponger ***** will be bothered enough to get off of their fat lazy useless good for nothing arses. We should send them to polland and Romania and the such and keep the eastern europeans we have here at the moment. At least then the lazy fcuks would have no choice but to work.
