Can we live without literature? Why?

A lot of us can. What we need is

1. food
2. water
3. air
4. shelter

Some would commit suicide, because they need literature to entertain them. ( I would go crazy if I suddenly couldn't access the Internet forever) Therefore, we can live without literature, if we want.

We could live without literature. Before invention of writing, knowledge, stories, and lore were passed along orally. Our lives would not be as full, but we would survive.
