Yes, we will all perish, but that doesn't mean we don't have to care about our lives. Humans do have nerves for a reason, and pain isn't exactly pleasureable or enjoyable, so I think one would care enough to not be in such a state of misery and suffering. The author of this quote seems to have cared enough about life to actually jot his thoughts down and publish it and what not, sort of hypocritical if you ask me.

If that's the way you think about life, then why don't you just go ahead, grab a knife, than stab yourself to death? If that's the way everyone thinks, then what's the point of music, art, literature, government, and everything that makes us human?

The thing is life is there so that we can live it. So what if we won't survive? While we're living here on earth, we should make the most of our time here because when we die, it will never come back. Love, work, have fun, cry, hold on, live!

I think the person who said it was very pessimistic and no knowledge of God or his purpose for mankind and this earth.
After saying the world in Noah's day suffered destruction, the Bible account continues: "By the same word the heavens and the earth that are now are stored up for fire." (2 Peter 3:7) Indeed, as another Bible writer explains: "The world [the one existing today] is passing away."—1 John 2:17.
Significantly, when Jesus spoke of the days of Noah, it was in answer to his apostles' question: "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" (Matthew 24:3, King James Version) Jesus' followers knew that this world would end. Did this prospect frighten them?
On the contrary, when Jesus described events that would occur prior to the world's end, he encouraged them to rejoice 'because their deliverance was getting near.' (Luke 21:28) Yes, deliverance from Satan and his wicked system of things into a peaceful new world!—2 Peter 3:13.

Well perhaps life is all about the journey, not the destination.
Given that so many ancient civilisations searched for proof of
and entry into an after life and that still today humans are
on that same mental and emotional journey maybe when this
life ends another form begins.

So sad a statement! Sure, we not going to survive it anyway BUT that doesn't mean we need not care. That we will not survive it could mean living with it for many years, even decades! Care while you can, live every day to its fullest. If we lived well, for all we know, we might not want it to end!
