I just saw the remake of The Wicker Man w/ Nicolas Cage, thank God I waited 'til it was out of video, could have done w/o watching it to tell the truth, I hated it, it was boring, long and blah dee blah maddening. Did I miss something, I tried to think about it in a feminist way and it still irked the crap out of me. What did you think about the movie? Is the original better?

Watch the 1973 original. Great film.

I didn't bother watching the remake, although I might just be persuaded to watch it for the scenery (it was filmed where I used to live, and where my mother grew up!).

When I heard the fantastic Ellen Burstyn was going to be playing Summerisle (a twist on the original, which had Christopher Lee in the role), I thought it would be intriguing, but once the reviews came out, I quickly soured on the idea.

Yes, but not by much. It shouldn't have been done as a remake even with modern effects. Actually with the effects it's actually worse because the type of ending it has makes the movie fall flat at the end.
