I bought a notebook during Courts Mega sale. This notebook is said to contain Linex Operating System which I do not know how to use. Where can I learn to use it or should I reformat and load it up with Windows XP Home which I am familiar with? FYI, I am not very computer literate. Thank you in advance.

Linux is a UNIX-based operating system created by Linus Torvald.

Linux makes extensive use of the command line so it requires reasonably good typing skills. It also requires a substantial commitment to learn the OS. Well worth the effort but it is an effort.

Without being mean, based on the content of your question and the typing skills displayed I strongly suggest it is not for you and you should install WinXP (as well as good anti-virus etc etc that you will need).

Linux is simple but powerful operating system. You will see all the applications in this OS. Start it from Left Bottom Corner or left Top with clicking on button(could be start, redhat, K or anything). And start exploring it, after sometime you will in love with it. If u r a programmer then its a free Boon for u.
it has lot of applications press Crtl + F2 to run command and type ooffice, kcalc, xmms, gimp, konsole or konqueror to run this.
You will find Konqueror as interface in comparison of Explorer of windows. Gimp on Photoshop. etc.. There is no partitions like c or d.. you will only /(root) and tree folders(etc, home, opt, usr)...
But as u r saying "u r not familier with cmp then i recommand u to switch windows".
