I just want to get a half decent one to use when my sister calls on Skype - doesnt have to be particularly hi-tech. I saw a brand new one on ebay for £1.99 but surely this is too cheap?! How many pixel things should I be looking at?

i got a mikomi webcam out of argos for 18 pounds and it is a brilliant camera, very easy to set up and use, my advise is to get a seperate mic because the built in mics tend to be rubbish, i had trouble with people hearing me till i got a desktop mike for 15 pounds. i also tryed my mates expensive logitech cam(£60) and his built in mic was also rubbish and my cam has equally good picture quality as his dear one

Try to get a logi-tech webcam. They tend to be the best cams to use for webcam conversations and you can find them relatively cheap on ebay, Many have built in mic's and zoom capabilities, Good luck!

Even if you buy the biggest and best, there's no guarantee the picture at the other end will be any better, it's all down to the state of the connection at the time.

You'll probably find a cheapo one does just as well. Be wary of eBay "bargains".

.3 min but on the low end...1.3 mega pixels and a CCD cam is better than CMOS cam. Try newegg.com. Average cost= $15-45 US.

to be honest i have bought many webcams in the past and have never gone wrong with argos lowest price, it all depends what you want to do with it.

if you are looking for general webcam chat etc, then all you need is a basic one i nought mine at argos for £12.99.

works a treat!!

Be careful with ebay.....
