Good to get a baseline sometime between age 35 to 40. Earlier if you have any pain, discomfort, feel anything unusual. After that, every two years -- after 55, every year.

WHEN TO GET A MAMOGRAM -

There's a lot of confusion out there about when and how often to get a mammogram. For now, the recommendation is that women get a mammogram once a year, beginning at age 40. If you're at high risk for breast cancer, with a strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer, or have had radiation treatment to the chest in the past, it's recommended that you start having annual mammograms at a younger age (often beginning around age 30). This, however, is something that you should discuss with your healthcare provider.-

The right time to go for a mammogram is from the age of 35, but I would rather go for one from the age of 25 because cancer is killing more people each and every day, than Aids is killing people. The cancer situation is far greater and it is attacking younger and younger people by the day. A know a girl who was 22 at the time, found a lump and had both her breasts removed because the cancer was bad.

After the age of fourty...However if there is a family history on your mom's side (not your dad's) you should start getting them between 25 and 30. Also always do a monthly breast exam no matter what age. 90-95% of lumps are found by the person themselves.

Nowadays it is recommendable when you are 35, for the first, if you did not any pain or worries about your breast.
Here in Europe they recommend after 35 once a year, if you don't have any family case or any suspect or anomaly.
