Alright here is another opinion question: a girl gets pregnant with her boyfriend. should they get married because its the proper thing to do? or not?

the idea of marrying off women who fell pregnant from a man was all well and good back in the day as the men or women for that matter stayed together,,that was how it was but in todays society either party is basically free to leave/divorce and the safety net is no longer there so,,it would seem a wedding is pointless unless the couple really love each other and actually want to get married otherwise it will cause more grief when one eventually says,"its over".it was 'the proper thing to do',,but not anymore.

They should only get married if they love one another. If it were lust or any other feeling then they are going to have a troubled future. Most people would say get married for the child's sake, but that's antiquated thinking. Children pick up positive and NEGATIVE feelings from adults. It will only hurt the child in the long run to live in a home where the parents probably should not have gotten married. My mom and dad began that way and I tell you from experience they should not have stayed together. They were so miserable together that it took me a long time to know what a carring, loving, positive environment was once I moved out on my own. Do it only for each other.

No, this could be the worse decision of both their lives.
Usually it`s the girl that wants to get married, then when the boy doesn`t meet up to her expectations that`s when the trouble starts, they will have spent all that money on a wedding then spend twice maybe thee times as much on the divorce.
It`s worth waiting until the baby is born and even 6 months to a year after the baby has been born.
You`ll both know if you`ll make it by then, having a baby completely changes your life, you can`t act like you did before you had the baby.
take time to talk about things that you both want don`t keep things to yourself that breeds resentfulness, any relationship is like an uphill climb, you both have to work at it if you want to make a go of a relationship, and in most cases (not all) but most it`s the woman that has to work that little bit harder.
Don`t rush into anything that you may regret in later life, and don`t be forced by anyone into doing something you don`t want to.

I do not believe in this theory. What if it was a one night stand and that is when she got pregnant. You should never marry because of this reason. The only reason to get married is because you love someone. THis doesnt mean that the man shouldnt help out emotionally or financially, because he should. I feel that if you get married because of a pregnancy in the end it will do more harm than good. Because if you dont love someone how are you ever going to teach your child to love. When your child ask you "mommy do you love daddy" you cant lie. So dont put yourself in that kind of a situation.

Maybe that will be a responsible way to go after an inrresponsible act ? Living up to our responsibility and working it out is a good choice to consider. Well, if they really hated each other, then it is not a good idea.

The institution of marriage has certain sanctities attached to it. The isntitution isnt dead as yet. For the sake of progeny of the couple, a marriage has to be registered.

yes because they have a child and that child's life is now more important than anything in the girls and guys life and does not deserve to be ruined because of the guy and girls mistake.
