Atheists are the only minority that it's "OK" to discriminate against.

Ever is a long time. Currently, Christianity is such a huge part of American culture, and a big part of our history, that an atheist would have trouble making that public. Ever see "Contact" with Jodie Foster, from the book by Carl Sagan. She's a scientist who discovers alien communication via SETI, but she can't convince the world body who will decide who goes on a mission to the stars that being an atheist still makes her qualified. Since the world body believes that a belief in a higher power is represented by the majority of inhabitants in the world, the person they pick must be a believer too. She has an awful tiime convincing them otherwise. I think that would happen here. And watch Mitt Romney, a Mormon, in his presidential bid. I think he will have a very hard time getting votes because so many Evangelical christians will not vote for him--you nearly have to have their vote to make it (or split them on an issue and get part of them, say like the Environment...) So, my answer is no for the next fifty years. I'd be surprised. IF, however, a presidential candidate admitted to being an AGNOSTIC, that he didn't know who was right, he might be able to run....

I really don't know but our government historically is based on religion but originally most of our forfathers were masons these masons had values on religion privately they wanted to keep it out of government because that's the reason they became masons in Europe to escape religious prosecution. they ventured to the untited states did their thing and created the colonies. But nowadays I think religion should be a personal taboo subject a president male or female shouldn't have had to be in some war.
they need to be smart have strong family val;ues etcc. Leadership isn't about cajones when it comes to financial strategy security progressing America as a country.
placing funds in the right places for education making unison with all countries because its a small world and we need to work together. all of these takes grit heart smarts will power. being an atheist really doesn't apply to these having faith in your ability to become successful making the world unite ending poverty doesn't relate to religion it relates to human spirit and the will to improve. Religion historically has caused many wars many problems developed the class system and seprates people it should be personal not public this is what are forefathers thought because they were masons scientist they built buildings hense masons.

If they were able to sidestep the question long enough I'd guess it'd be possible.
If the belief was made public? I'd doubt it, but you'd have to let the voters decide that one.
In my opinion;
In God We Trust, or One nation under God, Indivisible, does not cater to atheism.
Amazing, I'm a Canadian, and I do Trust in God.

Possibly, but the fact he wasn't a Christian would mean he would have to come up with some convincing alternative explanations for hating Muslims, invading other people's countries, and generally behaving like a dork.

WHAT HAS THE RELIGIOUS BELIEF GOT TO DO WITH BEING A PRES. OF THE USA, IS'NT THERE A SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, SO IT REALLY DOES NOT MATTER WHATEVER HE./SHE BELIEVE RELIGIOUSLY AS LONG AS HE/SHE CAN BE A GOOD PRESIDENT WHO WILL DO HIS JOB ACCORDING TO THE GUIDELINES OF THE CONSTITUTION THEN HE CAN BE ANYTHING HE WANTS TO BE RELIGIOUSLY!
