Why do you think that when a fight happens in basketball, it gets so much more negative attention than when a fight happens in soccer, football, hockey, and/or baseball? I mean, hockey is just off the meters when it comes to fighting, and there are at LEAST 3 bench clearing brawls a season in baseball, soccer players AND fans get into frequent altercations, and football has had more than its fair share of fights and brawls. What gives?

And even when the fight does not spill into the crowd, basketball gets blasted, defend that!

Because Basketball players conduct themselves so much better then other pro athletes, that when they do something out of the ordinary, it is very big news. The Bengals has had over 8 players incarcerated this year alone, but where are the people complaining about them. Terrell Owens spits in DeAngelo Halls face, but where is the uproar with that. Why is it that a hockey player (Bartuzzi) can end another players career on purpose, but still play in the NHL. It makes no sense to me.

It receives so much negative attention because the players fighting are a whole bunch of cowards playing in a sport that barely has any physical contact. Fighting is a part of hockey because player slamming into each other at super fast speeds are a legitimate part of the game and when grown man tries to take each other's heads off, they tend to get pissed at each other. Naturally, when that temper boils over, they are gonna solve things like man and drop the gloves. It is also a tool players use to make sure the other team treats their stars with respect. You cant get away with cross checking Gretzky without getting McSorley in your face. It is the samething with baseball. You just cant allow an opposing pitcher to though bean balls @ the batter's heads all day long, and to stop that, u make sure u protect ur teammates by kicking the crap out of the other pitcher to make sure it doesnt happen again. Now, u look at basketball. All the contact ur going to have is maybe one of two hard fouls down the lane. Compared to hockey and baseball, it is a soft sport. The player's actions reflect that too. U look at what Anthoy did after he threw the punch, instead of staring the guy down like Nolan Ryan after he beans someone, he starts to run away. What the heck is that???.. People respect the fights in hockey and baseball because it is a way to get respect and people understand that... but the same thing doesnt apply to most fights in basketball. It is usually a punch of sissys ***** slapping each other. It is a soft sport with cowards who ends up running away from fights and turn to the innocent audiences.. I mean.. what the heck is that???.. and ur wrong about fighting in soccer btw. Fights in soccer draws just as much negative attention. U just dont know about it because North American people dont give a damn about the sport

football and hockey's a physical sport and people wouldnt be surprised if a fight broke out because of it. Baseball's also physical when a batter gets "intentionally hit" and then charges which somehow would make it "reasonable" but Basketball's a sport where nba players go out in the crowd and throw punches outside the arena, which puts the fans to danger thus getting negative attention. football, baseball, and hockey fights dont go outside the field/arena like basketball fights do (pistons-pacers, knicks-nuggets)
