To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP

Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."
Click "Add or Remove Programs."
Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.
Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove."

Lots of people have given details on how to remove it (you're not the only person to hate IE7 - and it shouldn't have been pushed on you in an update).

The next time you update your Windows, it will try to install IE7 again. Choose to look through what the updates are - read the blurbs. Untick the one that is IE7 and when it asks you why you didn't want it, tell it to not ask you again.

There, no more nags.

I, too, can vouch for Firefox - I've been using it for years and I've loved it the whole time. Why? Because *I'm* in control. If I want to add something to Firefox, I can. If something goes wonky, *I* can fix it.
*I* can find easy ways of blocking ad banners, flash ads and iframe ads. (Add-on called Adblock Plus)
I can control my music player (FoxyTunes)
And in my super controlling days I can also *change* how sites look. And act. (Stylish and Greasemonkey)

But even with no tinkering at all, Firefox is vastly better than any version of IE.

Try it! You can have both IE and Firefox (and Opera, for that matter) on your computer. http://getfirefox.com/

Okay, trick question....which bersion? IE5.5, IE 6, IE 7???
Well dont matter....If using 95-XP, then Start Button, Control panel, Add/Remove Programs. List by name, then uninstall. Hope that helps. You can always go to the M$oft site and Dl any old version, however it will use the Genuine Advantage authintacator to verify your OS is legit and not some cracked/hacked ver.

1) Try going into your control panel, under add/remove programs'. There should be an option to remove Windows Explorer 7.

2) Failing that, try System Restore, and go back to a date before you installed WE7.

3) Finally, try your operating system disk and see if you can restore Windows that way. (This is a last resort, as it will re-install your operating system. Do full back-ups of any files you wish to save, etc. etc.)

If you're running Windows XP, try reverting to a restore point from a time before you upgraded. You can find restore points by selecting "Help and Support" from the Start Menu, searching for and running "restore wizard", the selecting "restore my computer to an earlier date."

You seem to have plenty of advice on how to remove it so I won't bother with that. But, I strongly suggest you consider downloading Firefox browser. It is very stable, has no security issues that I have heard of and will allow you to add extra features only if you want them called extensions. So the basic browser is very slimmed down and fast..... It is endorsed by several of the pc magazines.
Find it at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
