Listen, my daughter is an awful test taker, too. She makes up for it by being a good, enthusiastic student who is more than willing to participate in class every chance she gets. These qualities have saved her from what has been a very difficult semester. I believe you are very much like this. I mean, look at yourself, the following you have, all the people who seek out your questions. You obviously have leadership qualities and a way with the spoken word. Snap out of it, kid!

I have often felt the same way that you are feeling. But then I look back at my accomplishments & feel 'Life is not so bad after all' & I'm still alive! After having served in the US Army for 3 years during the 'cold war' ('81-'84); then cooking professionally for 14 months & after that having been a USDA Meat & Poultry Inspector,I feel I can generally take just about anything that comes along! I am now a NC Master Gardener & a Self Employed business owner,so I tend to take things a little easier & try to help anyone I can with whatever they need !

Odd that you should ask that as, just recently, I received some news that made me feel as if I was "not good enough"...
Upon reflection,... perhaps it's not far from the truth.
I am in my 40s and, unfortunately, the physical prowess I once took pride in has come back to bite me; the damage I fought through as a young man is now beginning to exact its toll, --- and the toll gets heavier with each passing year.
There is a widely known aphorism which I'm sure you have heard:
..."You're only as old as you feel"...
...and I'll be damned if it isn't true: I have days that I could swear that I was 80.

As Nicholas said, self confidence can go a long way.
You are more limited by your esteem and confidence than by your true potential.
Don't tell yourself that you are going to fail. A negative attitude will give negative results. Do the best you can, believe in yourself and don't lose sight of your dreams.
GL on your test.

I'm not perfect, but that's only because I don't want to be perfect. (It's too much work for too little return after a certain point.) As for test anxiety, relax. You don't need to be perfect (no one expects you to be). If you stop worrying about absorbing every fact of a subject and mostly pay attention to the big picture (the context), you'll understand things better, so then tests will be mostly just "common sense" instead of just parroting memorized bits and pieces. Good luck. (Just remember about yourself, "I'm as perfect as I want to be!")

I go into every situation with a positive attitude. But, then I get pissed when things don't go the way I hoped. And I throw my own pity party.

aw. have faith in your self.
I know what you mean though. I get like that sometimes.
I have huge dreams but I feel like I'm not good enough to make them happen, or that my dreams are too good for me. I was the first person to finish high school in my family but It didn't happen through hard work, I just got lucky. I know this sounds totally shallow and impossible but I want to a "rock star" I know, cheesy, but its been my dream forever!! but no one really believes in me.I feel that my whole life has been one big dream, and excuse for not making my dreams reality but I want to make this happen for me. I want to do something great with my life. I just get discouraged cause I took the year off and I feel like I'm wasting good time. I graduated a year early and I was too afraid to start college with out my friends, their still in high school. but this up coming year I'm going to break out of my shell. yeah I planned it and every thing. we weren't brought into this world to be shy or made to think we are not good enough, cause we so are. but anyways, oh my I practically told you my whole life story.

Yes, it does come once in a while but it is helpful to think of our better qualities and that there is still hope to be better in whatever we feel we are not good enough at.

Occasionally, yeah. Most times though, I just ignore those feelings for the self indulgences that they are, and keep moving. I don't really see any alternative that makes sense to me.
