book publishing? what kind of degree do I need?

I hae a BA in communications w/ a concentration in journalism -- i decided jour. isn't paying enough. I'm thinking of getting my MA in a book publishing field. how do i break into this career? is the annual salary good? also, what majors should i look at for a MA degree?

P.S. i'm interested in the editorial side of publishing.
