I just turned 53 and this sounds familiar to me... A lot of my fears and anger were symptoms of diabetes and high blood pressure which I didn't know I had. That part is treatable if its the cause. However, it is frightening to think you have fewer years to live than you have lived and I have a low self esteem also. I am seeing a psychiatrist. Challenge him to compare blood pressure with you on a machine in the pharmacy or grocery store. Try to get his sugar level tested by a doctor. Good luck.

This is a classic midlife crisis. He is coming to grips with his own mortality and his loss of virility. This can be very hard for some men to process. If he won't talk with someone, then maybe you can so you can better understand how to help him through this time in his life. If he is truly "sick and tired" all the time then there maybe physical issues contributing to the emotional ones. He should at least see his physician for a physical. Remind him that his health is important to you and it is up to him to take care of it!

I believe that at 40, a lot of people think of it as the half way point in there life. It is very hard for many many people to hit the big 4-0. As hard as it may be for you, patience is the best thing. Try very very hard to be understanding. Offer him a night out with friends. Have a get together at your house. Tell him you understand this is very hard on him, and you are there if he needs you.

Yes it is mid life crisis.Men get moody starting at age 30-50 and sometimes before 30 if they've been drinking.According to Dr Phil if you don't recognize you have the problem then you won't get help for it.I think that's true.He should find a distraction and I guess just avoid him when he's like that till he cools off.

I think he's starting to think half his life is over! He just has all these thoughts going through his brain, like he wished he would of did this, and experienced that, but because he has kids, and a wife, he can't! BUT, he hasn't yet come to the realization that that's what he choose!!! He just needs some time!! Women have menopause, men have this crisis. It's kind of a wake up call that were getting older. NO ONE likes it, but it's reality!!!

his mind is too free or too occupied.
do some things together, keep his mind occupied with your things.
initiate some change in the house, more importantly, chat more with him (not nag), share more with him (not load him with chores), get the drift?
with love and trust, you and your husband will get through this crisis.

Could be mid life crisis. Or maybe he simply needs a happy pill.
