This entire controversy was invented by a couple of radical extremists with radio shows last year.
They thought that everyone, whether they were Christian or not should be forced to say Merry Christmas if they worked with the public.
I'm a retail manager for one of the top 5 chains and our instructions to our employees has always been to offer people whatever holiday greeting YOU find appropriate. So, most of our employees have probably always said Merry Christmas, some have offered a Happy Hanukkah, or a Blessed Solstice, or any of a wide array of other winter holidays.
That is the best thing about living in America, we have a lot of different types of people and we all have freedom to express our differences and we can all learn from each other.
Merry Christmas everyone!

You should not offended by either...just be glad someone is wishing you to have a "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays". People need to stop being so damned concerned with being politically correct and just take the damn well wishing and move on!!!!

i find neither offensive.
the whole thing makes me sick..people being offended by either.
i guess more people are offended when people say happy holidays because christmas is a christian holiday and they wanna keep christ in it. but i dont see anything wrong in wishing someone a happy "holiday". i only say merry christmas on the actual day. or if i'm mailing out christmas cards. i think people are too sensitive and pretty much losing the meaning of christmas. wheather you're a christian or not christmas is about you know showing people you care about them and that can be called "being christian like" or being called a good person.

I can't speak for everyone else but, I don't mind hearing either or. I do say happy holidays or merry christmas. It all depends on what the other person says to me. I think some people just say happy holidays because you never know who doesn't celebrate Christmas. i think happy holidays covers pretty much all of them when it comes to this time of year. Ya know, christmas, new years, Chanakah(sp?), kwanza?, and so on.

I really don't care how, or if, people greet each other during the holiday season. I'm an atheist, but I couldn't care less if someone says "Merry Christmas" to me. I'm normally against extremely conservative, old-fashioned values and mores, but---when Christians pass you by in the street and wish you a merry Christmas, they really aren't trying to assault you with their religion. They really arent, and left-wingers who get upset about it really, REALLY need to calm down and pull whatever's up their *** right out of it.

People are all up in arms about the "Christ" being taken out of Christmas - so they are more offended by Happy Holidays.
Me, I always have thought they mean the whole of the season - from thanksgiving through new years - what's to be offended by that?
