There are 4 modules in the CCNA. All in all there are 280 hours, each module is made up of 70 hours. In high schools they teach these 4 modules in 2 academic years, but colleges or universities teach it in just one academic year.

i did mine for like 2 weeks. But i didnt take the exam immediately. Cause i also sign up for CCNP. My trainer advised me to take the CCNA exam after i gone thru some of the syllabus in CCNP as to have a better grasp of Cisco networking.

CCNP took me around 3 months. In the middle of the 3 mnths i took my CCNA exams. By going thru 1 1/2 months of CCNP, you can know more about Networking. Then you can take the CCNA exam with much better knowledge.

The Cisco authorized classroom curriculum is one week -- 5 contact days at 8 hours each. From personal experience, I'd recommend taking the exam immediately upon completion while the information is still fresh.
