I dont think they have made a way for it. except for the 'all mail' options. They have designed in a way that

"All Mail is your archive. It's a storage place for all the mail you've ever sent or received, but have not deleted"

Sounds like you're looking for an 'All Archived Mail' button, which Gmail doesn't have, as already noted and which I was surprised to realize, too.

A search of the Gmail Help Discussion group in Google Groups came up with some possibly helpful suggestions:

Use "-in:Inbox" (without the quotes) as a search criteria

-- or --

1. click inbox
2. select "all" this will select all messages in the inbox
3. select action "add star" this will star all messages in inbox
4. click "all mail"
5. select "unstarred" this will select all (and only) archived messages
6. Now if you want you can apply a label to all archived messages and then using that label you can see only the archived messages

Both of those methods were noted in the referenced website - I used "archived" as a search criteria - so I can't take credit for coming up with those solutions.

Basically it sounds like there's no quick and simple way to display *just* archived mail.
