Yes, I do understand, and I agree with you. You make some very good points in your post. Unfortunately, a couple of other posts from the Anal Retentive Squad had to chime in with their two cents worth, but your points were well worth making for Yahoo Answers.

Yes, I can follow your train of thought.
Spelling and punctuation all go to hell - as does the concept of having paragraphs more often than not. Trying to read through 20 lines of text, loaded with typos makes me feels that 2 points is just not worth the effort.
I suspect this is also why you typically find more "me2" and "dk" responses to badly composed questions - only equally "couldn't care less" folks usually bother answering.
I think even worse is the two word "question" complete with a typo and an abbreviation - where the asker couldn't really be bothered to waste their time on a REAL sentence in any shape or form.
"Celbrity Nums?" for example.
I think just as in the UK it was very "trendy" for a while to use ghetto slang if you were white "nowhattamean" - I think the "txt spk" of mobile phones has leaked into other forms of communication.
It has reached a point where many folks simply do not bother trying to decode "teentalk" any more - which I suspect is a pity on BOTH sides.
Frighteningly, I think the first wake up call many will get will be when their CV's are popped into the vertical file - or their benefit/welfare applications are returned as "incomprehensible" or "incomplete".

Very many people these days lack the concept of showing respect through their writings. There are a lot of people that are too lazy to want to critically think and or comprehend that there are meanings behind those little letters that form their words, which in turn form sentences. Not only that, there are a lot of U.S. citizens that don't know the english language very well due to lack of knowledge, lack of nationality and or they were raised with a different language. So,they then project what they perceive as proper english through what they're familiar with. I would also say that a lot of prepared exams, quizes, tests etc. are given in multiple choice format, causing society to accept that writing is something that should be blown off and that life doesn't require many writing skills. I agree 100% with you in this respect. I was raised by a parent that saw a great importance in having a high vocabulary, superior spelling and writing skills as well as a willingness to read. I personally had to write my spelling words several times a day between school and home. My school promoted reading and writing at all times. I now go to college, and the professors have just been beginning to add essay questions at the end of their exams. I hope that there will be a day when schools will promote writing again, instead of forcing our kids to be stuck in front of a computer, learning excel, word etc.

In case you haven't notice there's a crisis in the school system that is not going away.
Johnny can't read, write or do math without a caculator.
But in all fairness here, once you push the button on your question there no going back and editing, there is on answers.
I, personally, get paid to write, but not here, so I do first drafts here and sometimes they suck a bit.
But what people do often get from me, when I'm not posturizing or opinionizing or editorializing, which a lot of questions call for, is a lot of dillegent research. You get that for free.

first we are supposedly taught english, when in fact, we are not, we are taught american, and the language is a work in progress, and is now headed towards, computer ease, so i ask you what is your point of referance and / or your basis of comparison, from which varient or which reality, and is there truely any right or wrong in our modern day language ?, after all those who teach in our schools are not qualified in the subjects they teach, as it would supposedly cost too much too pay them !, so figure it out from there !

I have to admit that I'm bad at that, we are just so much in a hurry and we all think that we are great typist, even with one finger! oops and so we get spoiled with spell check and when if it is there, then we forget to use it!

I know what you mean - it seems that if you can make something easier then you're an innovative genius, even if it is to the peril of grammer or even sense.

You, too, are apparently illiterate. This is the "Computers and Internet" section. Your question should have been asked in the more aptly named "Pointless waste-of-time musings" section.
By the way, just for reference - the next time you're going to write a post bitching about poor writing, it's "primitive" and "guttural."

It doesn't appear you're exempt to this, either. Your last question included, "Every time I download a Messenger," and the mystery word, "jusr." You also capitalize every word in your questions. If you've come here to read beautifully written letters, you've been sorely mistaken. You should to poetry.com or something. Here, we ask questions and answer them. Concentration is placed on effectively communicating one's questions and answers, not on deciding where they should use alliteration and iambic pentameter.
