im using windowsXP.i want to go back from the start.reformat my computer from the very beginning.

Some laptops comes with recovery softwares / operating system inbuild. Those branded stuffs makes your life easy with one touch buttons to initiate your installation options.
However for all the other PCs and Laptops if you have the Windows XP installation disk, boot the system with the CD and follow the instructions for partitioning your hard disk space then follow the installation.
Prior to do the installation do remember to backup your neccessary documents/songs/movies/folders and other important data that you have it on the system. Also consider keep the various driver utility for different hardware installed on your system. This may required to setup your system post installation.

Throw in the Windows XP installation disk and boot up your computer from it. During the installation process, it will ask you if you want to reformat the hard drive. Choose yes, NTFS formatting. Continue with the XP installation and you'll be back up in no time.
*Note: I'm sure you realize this because you asked about reformatting, but I still have to mention that reformatting will cause you to lose EVERYTHING on the partition, not just the Operating System.

That is easy now
put the cd of microsoft ...and change the boot to take it from CD Room and after that prees on enter and Formate you're computer .

Make sure you write these steps down before you do this and have the necessary cd's to install al your programs. Good Luck!
