Unless they paid you off, it should still be there. Call the Benefits people at your former employer to find out.

Do yourself a favor and move it to a rollover IRA, so you have control of that money and so you can have greater investment options. Choose a low-cost investment house, like Vanguard or Fidelity. I did that with Fidelity, and they handled the transaction for me very smoothly.

I had a 401k plan that I was awarded due to the divorce from my husband who worked at Tektronix in Wilsonville, OR 97070. Tektronix was taken over by Xerox several years ago. Ho do I find out who has my 401k now?

Your account is still there. Contact the provider and they should be able to help you. However depending on the year that you left the plan they may have tried to distribute the money to you. Prior to March 31, 2005 most plans allowed accounts with a balance higher $5,000 to remain in the plan. After March 31, 2005, that amount was changed to $1,000. Most plan simply distribute the money directly to the participant, and yes it is a taxable distribution.

Call them right away!!! If you let them send you a check for it, you will get penalized big!! Call them and let them know that you want to roll it over into an IRA, or CD for retirement. Research, and find out what will be safe for a roll over, and do it quickly!
