Shouldn't Word be installed already on my computer without me having to buy the full product? A screen pops up saying that my trial has expired and that I need to convert to the full version.

I, too, vouch for OpenOffice.

Some people find it surprising that there are just as good (or better) free alternatives out there to what everyone pays for.

Here, I'll give you a list:

Internet Explorer - Firefox
Outlook / Outlook Express - Thunderbird
Microsoft Office - OpenOffice
Windows - Ubuntu

And there's hundreds to thousands more... all free!

Open source software... gotta love it!

Microsoft does not give away anything for free. You should see if you have a friend that is not using their copy any longer and would be willing to see you the PK. Any when i say "using" that is a loose term. You need to get a PK and plug it in b4 you can you word again. This means that if you don't have the key you need to find one. There is no way to get around it.

Don't steal MS Word. Instead, download OpenOffice ( http://www.openoffice.org ) if you have Windows, or NeoOffice/J ( http://www.neooffice.org ) if you have a Mac. These programs do everything MS Office does, but they're free!
