Why do ducks fly but chickens don't?

Who says chickens don't fly???? Our chickens roost in the trees behind our house!!!

Chickens in the wild fly. Their bones are denser than ducks so they fly shorter distances, but they DO fly.

Most farmers domesticate their chickens by clipping wings or putting a barrier over the chicken pen, so they lose their instinct to fly. And so people in the city think that chickens can't fly.

Here's a shock for you --- turkeys fly too!!!! But just like chickens, they have denser bone structures so the flights are short horizontally and vertically.

Chickens can fly just not very far. Chickens are a lot heavier than ducks is the reason they can't fly far but if you feed ducks a lot they get to where they can't fly.

Because decided that he wanted some bird on earth so we can have variety of meat(white meat,dark meat etc.) ,so they can lay eggs so we can bake cakes,and plus chicken run just wouldn't have the same effect as it does if the chickens can fly,and chickens are just straight up fat. i am sure that chickens fly a little bit, but trust me even if they do fly they can't fly far or fast. basically i am saying in a nutshell-get over it because God made it that way!XOXOXOXOXOOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

CHICKENS DO INDEED FLY, JUST NOT VERY FAR OR HIGH. I THINK THE REASON FOR THIS DIFFERENCE WOULD BE THE WEIGHT. CHICKENS ARE VERY MUCH HEAVIER THAN DUCKS

chickens in the wild can fly but farm raised chickens cant cuz they really ever use those muscles.
