One should adopt CBSC if available ICSE is also good.

ICSE is better in the sense that it ensures that the student gets a good deal of knowledge, reads a lot of books especially classics, and develops good english - which always helps. There is a better choice of subjects as well as concessions to children with learning disabilities. It's in a way a non-rigid student friendly system. hey learn through projects.

However, if your child cannot cope with learning a number of books, SSC is preferable.

International schools offer so much choice that the student ends up having a half baked knowledge ..for example, after the 7th grade, they can select any 3 subjects and thus do away with social studies and science all together. In English, the school may opt for language in which they'll not have any text as such - so no literature or reading or poetry - only essays, letters and report writing.....

However, it depends on the school - if the ICSE school doesn't implement the curriculum well - the student may suffer. There are also SSC schools which implement the curriculum in the ICSE style. Better check out the schools and then decide.

I would favour ICSE because that's what I took and have no regrets in life as yet. (Touch wood...)

ICSE is strong on languages AND sciences, but you don't score as well in sciences as you do in CBSE. The textbooks for CBSE are a piece of cake once you have read the ICSE books.

As far as languages are concerned, you are not just cramming up essays for your board exams (which my cousins in CBSE used to do). You actually cannot predict what you would get in your exam and you have to be good.

The All India PreMedical test changed to the CBSE syllabus a long time ago, but anyone with ICSE should never have a problem in competitive exams, I would have thought.

Both are good, but if you are an advanced student, than ICSE might be right for you. If you are not that advanced, but you are still very smart and witty, then ssc is good for you. You might want to speak to the head of you school or the pricipal so that he/she can advise you.

You must try CBSE instead, neither ICSE nor SSC. Best will be 'central school'. April the session begins. Try nearest central school. Whatever school you choose for your child, you need to give quality time to child, at least one and half hour a day.

If you plan to stay in Mumbai, follow the system that is most often accepted.

If you plan to move abroad, ask the advice of a number of professionals in those countries.
