It's all about supply and demand. If defensive is what's needed and the cream of the crop ... OF COURSE. Offense sells tickets, defense wins games.

It depends on the team. If your offense is working then you don't need to change it next season. A team like Cincinnatti or Tennessee will probably pick up defenders early in the draft next year. For teams like Oakland and Detroit, who will probably get the first draft picks, it's hard to see what they will draft because they need so much work.

No, because defense is so much tougher in the NFL so they need offfensive players to help them get by those tough defenses. Trust me, the defenders aren't any worse than the offense, they just want to score points.

Sure if the team thinks they really need that certain player. Although the texans will be kicking themselves for decades because they passed on Bush. The guy could be the next LT.

If he's what's needed yes. Even if the Texans did take Reggie Bush they'd still suck because their O line can't protect for crap so he would take turns with David Carr getting pummeled.

id rather have reggie in a second....but i think it would be ok for a defensive player to be first assuming their offense isnt in need of playmakers but their "d" is but then again if they are getting the first pick they probably dont have good playmakers

As long as he can prove he's worth it(and the team needs a player at that position more than QB or RB), then yes definitely.
