I dont think so. Some talk about this typeof music as being gender challenged. It is recognized in the young as a separate culture.

I think it is a shift in taste. Music evolves in several ways. What may be popular now will slowly give way to something else from the next generation .

So there is a vacuum and they do not like the mainstream anymore. Something else might fill that void.

why don't you do some research on what emo means. emo is a type of music that originated out of a club called Emo's in austin, TX. for some people, they live a lifestyle reflecting the music they listen to (as you see in country, goth, metal etc. as well). so being an "emo kid" has nothing to do with emotions. so no depression and cutting yourself isn't part of the deal. some people who live in this lifestyle may do those things, but no it is not because they are emo.
