My granny is in her eighties and her joints are getting weaker each day, especially her two kneecaps, which are really hurting. It really pains my heart to see her condition deteriorate, she used to be able to limp her way around, but now she can hardly walk......knee guards and health supplements for the ligament doesn't seem to work, or maybe this is juz something that the elderly have to bear with as they age......anyone out there with any experience care to share their solutions, or even offer me some things my granny can do, I would like to thank you beforehand because I really do not know what more I as a grandson can do to ease her pain......

You need an Orthopedic Surgeon if your Granny is healthy enough. Or you could get her some kind of walker or scooter to make life easier for her. Of course there is medicine from her Dr. I hope you find a solution thats best for your Granny.

unfortunately, there is very little that can be done other than a joint implant. this is not easy surgery for the elderly. the recovery time is long and can be painful. the trouble is that her knees are tired of supporting its body, well not just tired but no loger as able due to regular wear and tear on the human body. there are ointments and methods for helping with the pain, as well as some fruits such as black cherries. your grandma will enjoy the attention as well as having someone to visit, which is uplifting, and that is extremely important to people with chronic. sure it is no cure, but it should ease the mind and body.

She needs to see an orthopedic doc. The doc can recommend treatments or if the degeneration is real bad she can have knee replacement surgery. Encourage her to see the doc and get some help for this. She does NOT have to live with knee pain.

have you rubbed the knees with vicks vapor rub or blue emu cream. I live off these. I also use a lot of ice packs. Right this minute, I have my heat therapy water pump going. A doctor sent me to a medical supply place with a perscription. My insurance paid 80% of $500. Talk to the doctor even if you just call him on the phone. Good luck!

She probably needs knee replacement surgery, but it's likely her age and or her health won't allow it. I would advise you to talk to her doctor and see if he can give her something for the pain. Other than that, just try to be as supportive as you can and be there for her.

20 years ago,my knees were bad and the doc was considering surgery, but Cod Liver Oil cured them, apart from the occasional twinge. It takes a few months before it starts to work.

As hard as this may sound, I think she needs both knees replaced, but she'd be better off with a power scooter chair,
for her mobiltiy, & for your peace of mind. Her med insurance will cover it.

I'M SURE WE ALL DON'T WANT TO HEAR THIS..BUT SHE MIGHT NEED A KNEE SURGERY SOON. MY GRANDMA HAD BOTH KNEES OPERATED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND NOW SHE'S WALKING PRETTY GOOD. HER PRONOSIS WAS EXCELLENT. YOU SHOULD TAKE HER TO SEE A DOCTOR TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS FINE.
