There are video cards available in slot drive design, for those horrible circumstances when the video card built into the laptop is fried, or when all the rest of the hardware is state of the art but the video card is struggling to keep up and thats the only device that needs upgrading.
These devices are, however, quite rare. I've only ever seen one, and it was only used once so that data could be recovered from a broken unit. It is possible to use 2 video cards simultaneously to divide the workload when trying to play a high bandwidth game that a laptop would not normally be capable of, however any game that required that much video processing power will invariably need more of the other "stuff" too: RAM, CPU speed, high speed communications (internet, LAN or intranet), etc, etc. The best advice I can give is to get a more advanced laptop, or accept that you can't play that game (if that's what this is even about).
If your asking for recovery purposes, take the unit into a PC data recovery centre and leave it to the experts.
If this is about something else, I have had a lot of experience dealing with Best Buy Computers, and while they have a lot of good quality parts at affordable prices, they often don't know all that much about what they're selling. Only just a bit more than what they need to be good salespeople. This could be why you didn't understand him.
There are many websites I could refer you to regarding upcoming laptop developments (my father recently purchased a relatively cheap unit with a fingerprint ID scanner built in). I've seen others with WiFi, 3D video imagery, VR headset ports, AI wristchips, etc, etc. I even saw one that was almost entirely virtual: No screen, keyboard, mouse, cables, nothing tactile. Just a magnificent light show (output) from a laser emitter, and a movement detector for input. VERY EXPENSIVE. but we can dream ...
