absolutely! typing 38 wpm with a 97% accuracy is amazing.
I learned to type in high school and later in my different
secretarial jobs was clocked at 60 wpm 100% accuracy.
The older you are and the more practice you have on the keyboard your speed as well as accuracy will improve. The reason you don't look at the keyboard is due to the fact that you have memorized the keyboard. Your brain is like a computer. It has the keyboard programmed into it. I never look at the keys, except for the numbers. So yes for a 12 yr.old you're way ahead of some adults.

Thats not too bad. I type at about that (42 WPM on average, 94% accuracy), and I am 22. I sometimes have to look at the keyboard, but only for things like a special character, or when i get distracted.
You will probably find that people in your generation will type rather quickly because of your usage of internet technologies, such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! services such as chat and answers, and the need for much of your schoolwork to now be typed.

Do I brag about being a dinosaur? No I don't. That makes me a better person than you. Also, I have a 12 year old that can drive a tractor at 70 dinosaurs/hour. She's competing in the tri-county tractor race this Spring. I'm betting she gets first.

You type AWESOME for twelve. I type with great speed and accuracy myself without looking at the keyboard. This amazes my husband. Keep it up though, you will need computer and keyboard skills no matter what field of work you choose!
Take care

Yes, that is excellent. I have a lot of friends who are in their 20's and they cannot type that well. Keep up the good work and practicing, it's very important later in life and it just helps to be able to type faster for essays and papers for school and work.

Yes, in the days before computers, we had typewriters, and had to learn the main keys your finger stayed on and which keys each finger went to. I makes alot of sense if you think about it, but I type 75 words per minute, alot of practice! No hunt and peck here, with today's technology anyone can learn to type!!!

Hey, kid, if you're typing that well at 12, you're doing fan-tas-tic! Many kids don't learn to touch type until high school and many never really catch on. It's a good skill to have seeing how just about everything is computerized.
best of luck to you!

Because you are smart and they are stupid (must be only guys - have you noticed how all guys always type with the indexfingers - I was sitting next to a guy at the library and I never saw anyone typing so fast with two fingers...only problem...I though he would break the keyboard!!!! I had to leave as he was driving me crazy with all the noise)

that is very good, my problem is that i cannot type without looking at the monitor..i never look at the keyboard, but if i happen to leave the cursor in the way i will invariably mistype a word that is directly under it...have you ever experienced that?
