A month ago, I resigned from a job I was at for seven years due to personal differences with one of the overlookers (no grudge between us though; gave him my 2 week notice and left). It was a roofing job that I helped out at, usually doing accounting and figuring roof plans, etc.. (7.50 an hour peaked).

Anyway, I'm 20 now, and a sophomore in college with a 3.5 GPA. I go fulltime and this is my first time really looking for a job so probably will get something at a grocer or superstore, something such as that.

I want to work either fulltime afternoons on the weekends or weekdays on night shifts (I love the night so staying up all night is of no difficulty and a preference). How strict are places about parttime jobs and your schedule? How much should I expect to get paid? $6.00 or $7.00 hr, etc?

One more thing, I have no interest whatsoever in being an architect or accountant. I am becoming a computer science major.

Thanks.

In response to you I was 13 when I first worked at the office (it was my dad's employer for 30 years and friend) and I was paid $5.15 an hour.

Come on now. They don't do things legally in construction now. Don't forget "Illegal Immigrants." lol.

Oh, I have NEVER been interested in accounting or architect as a major. I just did it because it was my job.

Expect to get paid the minimum wage, whatever it is where you are, although you might be able to negotiate higher, due to your years of experience, and references. In terms of scheduling, the flexibility of the organization depends on the organization - you'll have to ask them about that when you are at the interview; rule of thumb is the more workers they have for coverage, the more flexible they can afford to be.

If you want to work nights, you'll have to concentrate on companies that stay open late/all night. I might suggest restaurant (not fast food) work - they are open late, and you can collect tips, although they pay well below minimum).

Maybe try local temp agency for placements, and there's always your college career or recruitment center that should have postings you can check through.

As the CEO of Extreme Energy and the leader of the Xtreme Team you are in a great position there at the college to earn an income as the market for the first energy drink to hit the market in powder form is prime income on the college campus. I started out with a small $65 investment for my very first order of product and I got back my investment in the first week and my business has grown from there. you worked for 7 years as a contruction roofing sales at the age of 13 ..now you are 20 and decided to change career plans to work for minimum wage at a grocery store.
you said you were an estimator but now you are not interested in business..

your logic does not flow and you are making some of the things up along the way..
age 13 is underage and illegal to work for a company .unless you were working for your dad...
a construction company will not hire a teenage to do estimates for a job.,,because the critical part of the business is make correct estimate on the job to make money ..they will usually hir e college grad to do this job...you say you are 20 years of age ...i think you are age 15 just starting your first job but trying to make up stories to cover your tracks,,but they dont make any sense at all,.

Check out the computer companies in your area and see if they do internships. Many do, and pay fairly well (I've seen up to $16.00 per hour.) They like new blood that they feel will mold into their ideals.
