Hi,
You can travel around Taiwan. Take advantage of your Youth and sign up for a Youth Pass. That will get you around to many places with discounts for Hostels, trip advise, e.t.c.

My parents sent me there during summer break all the time. In fact after college, I even went on the Love Boat...which is the Taiwan Cultural Experience...which might be defunk now.

There are lots of shopping, arcades, beer gardens(don't know if there is a legal drinking age there). Lots of clubs. And lots of places to eat. You can visit the many museums but it's many a great place for shopping. Night markets are always fun. Snake alley is rather "sinister" but interesting for a little kid.

It depends on what you want to do.
There are museums if you want to learn about history,
water and amusement parks if you want fun (though none of them r as exciting as the US's),
there are snow watchers on the mountains to watch (if you want to watch them get crazy when they see snow),
there is the "Taipei 101" if you want to be in the tallest building of the world,
and or you can dive in the every south of Taiwan (Kenting),
and the night markets are dirty but worth to take a look,
or you can just look around and enjoy imagining what's it's like to live in Taiwan (like what books they sell in bookstores)......

btw, try walking around the outside of two or three high schools,
you might find one of those little shops that sell drinks. You only have to pay for about 20~35 NT for a huge cup of drink, it's totally worth it. And it's one of Taiwan's unique culture too ( I think.....) , you can see students gathering around those shops after school, and you can see each of them holding a cup of drink!
