One more opinion..... whenever Microsoft releases a product, it takes about a year of public use before most of the bugs are ironed out. Vista was just released to businesses the end of November. It's not scheduled to be released to the public until 1/30/07. XP was released in Oct 2001 and in Sep 02, Service Pack 1 was released to fix a bunch of problems. It was a start, but many more problems were found. In Aug 04, SP2 was released. SP2 was just about as big as the entire Windows 98 operating system. I predict Vista SP1 will be even larger than that. So why rush into a product that hasn't been officially released to the general public? And don't even think about trying to find and use one of the Beta (test) versions. Way too many problems.

Partition your hard drive and dual-boot. Then you can try out Vista and decide whether or not you like it. Vista has many new features, some are productivity-enhancing and others are simply eye candy. I prefer Vista to XP already; the final build (contrary to the betas, and contrary to what most people are predicting for Vista) actually came out amazingly clean for a Microsoft product.

You are going to open a can of worms.... Personally, I will use XP until Vista matures. XP has its faults, but Vista has too many "bells and whistles" in terms of eye candy.

i would suggest dual booting them and you wont loose any data and you get to try out vista and see which you like better... just partition your hard drive and run vista and choose to install in advanced and choose the partition that windows XP is not on.. and then when you start your computer it will ask which OS you want to boot and then you can see which you like

Stick with XP. It's much easier to understand. But it also depends on how you're using the computer. I love my XP, I find it adequate when burning Cd's and making graphics.
