It all depends on what year you're looking at. The brand new 2007 Impala is offered with three engine choices. The 3.5 liter 211hp V6 gets 21mpg city and 31 highway, the 3.9 liter 233hp V6 gets 19 city/27 highway and the 5.3 liter 303hp small block V8 with Active Fuel Management can get 18 city/28 highway thanks to a cylinder deactivation feature that shuts off four of the cylinders when they are not needed, such as in highway cruising.

i drove a 2007 LTZ for about 3 months and I averaged 15 -17 mpg; however, i am not one to let all that power go to waste when the light turns green. the pickup/power of this car was great and I would have gotten way better gas mileage but I always had the windows and sunroof down everywhere i went.
