I know it is illegal to post full movies like Umrao Jaan on websites like YouTube. However, is it illegal to watch them, if you are not downloading the movies, but simply watching them on the website's own screen online? I think actually downloading the movies is illegal, but is watching without downloading illegal?

no. it could be illegal for the websites to be showing the movies but not illegal for you to watch them. Is it a good thing to do though? No its no but thats for you to decide
