I am well aware that Peta is a group of hipocryts and the money that goes into it does not go into the animals, but are all of their veiws really horrible.
Say nothing about eliminating pet ownership, it's a nice idea, but it would never work and would deffinantly cause more problems, so I don't agree with it nor do I want to hear about it.
I guess I'm moreso asking about pple with furbaby veiws on treating your pet much the same as you would treat your child making the obvious adjustments in techniqu*sp?*.
In other words, is it wrong to not consider you pet a possesion the same way your computor is *or car* but to look at it as a responsobilty you chose like a child?
And I'd like someone to effectively justify a reason anyone would look at anything as only the genetics that went into the animal.
Personaly, I don't know anyone that buys/adopts because of parentage, so i can't ask them.

I am an animal lover, feirce deffender of the common mutt, but you're only half right with the veg thing, I don't eat mamals.
But I wanna know that are the ideas of PETA bad simply because they are comming from the mouths of hypocryts *do I need to bring up the percentage of the animals that were put down compared to the ones that were placed, cuz I can do that with a quick websearch*
And furbabies are looked down upon, too, but I agree that a pet is like an addition to the family. Everyone in the house will need to put up with it and it has the same responsobilities as a child *healthcare, disciplin, schooling* so is relating the two that bad?
that may not have put it any clearer...
Are those that beleive in the concept of furbabies and agree with select ideas of classic PETA propaganda regarding treating animals well idiots because of how they feel?

So this is just the same as your last post, but masqueraded under a different topic.

You need to grow up and toughen up. So you didn't like it when someone compared a dog to a car, so what, move on. I am sure you have said many things others don't like as well.

You love mutts, I love purebreds. I have no problem with someone wanting mutts, why is it such an issue for you that I want purebreds? Why do you try to shove it down others throats? To each his own!

BTW - why would you think eliminating pet ownership is a good idea? Judging from your other postings, I suppose you think that only YOU should be allowed to have pets?

I think PETA started out as a good cause, but at some point they went round the bend. I adore animals for the record but honestly, if nobody ate beef, an awful lot of species of cow would be unnecessary. Ranchers would stop breeding them, and like so many heirloom breeds, they'd die out.

Animals were created for man's use. This doesn't mean it's ok to abuse them, but it also doesn't mean we should begrudge people their right to dinner, either.

What? found your questoin to be a bit indistinct but being a dog person I will give you a couple of my points of view backed with what I know to be true.

First off people purchase a pet looking at the parentage becasue they are looing for certain traits in a pet. Look at it this way, most people who live in an apartment do not have room for a Great Dane type , large dog. One of the smaller breads would be much better so they look for a chihuahua, a Laso Aphso something along those lines a smaller dog. Personality traits matter too. A person 25 years old who like out door sports will find an energetic Lab a much better fit than a 60 year old woman who live in town.

It has been proven that dogs can attain the intellegence level of that of a 3 year old child. I have several dogs. They are used to being treated lik epart of th ehousehold as opposed to inanimate objects. They understand they can ask for "things". And they do. They also understand that they do not get everything they want. My dogs to communicate what they want will get our attention, then they will look us in the eyes very pointedly , then they will look at the thing they want. They will repeat this till we understand what they want. And I will tell you that thier wants are just as simple as those of a small child. They want food, toys, entertainment and loving.

My little Merl a very smart Doxie. He sleeps with me in our bed. We brought home a chihuahua pup. We put her in her cage for the night and tried to go to bed. Merl would not come with us as he did every night. He would not leave the side of Buffy's cage. WE brought Buffy's cage into our bedroom and he was happy to come to bed with me as usual. He did not want the puppy to be alone. Merl was neutered, Buffy would provide him with nothing, that was nothing but concern on his part.

Buddy our boxer we thought was getting mean. I was thinking about putting him down. You just can't have a mean boxer! Then I noticed him watching me with the little dogs. I saw the look in his eyes. He was jealous! I made it a point to treat him more like the little dogs and the meaness was gone in just a couple days! Never came back that was 4 years ago.

Our pets get human quality dog food and we cook them meals of turkey and chicken and vegetables. We made ramps for the little dogs to keep thier back and joints in good shape longer. They get treats as well and the holsome foods. They each get individual love and attention every day. They play with each ohter and then curl up together sleep. Ours dogs have even been known to take food to each other.

Eliminate pet ownership? Is there a group trying to do that? WEll unforuntately lots of people have no business with a pet. They leve thier pets in the car in the summer in the sun and bake them alive. They think they have atifreeze in thier viens and give them an uninsulated wooden box to freeze to death in the winter. They see them as living garbage disposals and expect them to live on trash them beat them when they get ill and mess in the house! They let small children torment them then beat the animal for trying to stop the torture. Pets suffer so much!!!People can be really, really stupid!

But I can't imagine not haveing pets. I have had no less then two dogs at any given time since I was 4 years old. I can't imagine not having my furry babies! They listne to me, they love me, they are alwasy glad to see me and they want to please me. I can't even say all those things about my husband. LOL

Lastly how can you view these intellegent animals as nothing more than possessions? They think and they have emotions. They have needs wants and self awareness.

You asked!

I used to support Peta, thought they did good work, but I think they have gone over the edge now, they are just TOO radical.
