I say to each there own. I develop web applications and my work space has 4 connected monitors 2 lcd and one crt and a 30” plasma. There are times that only the crt will do to get the view I need to edit something. So I see the benefits of all. So use what suits you and let the next person do the same.

CRTs use more electricty and they take up more space in lanfills as well as on your desk. Three electron beams shooting at you all day long can't be good for you either. Their construction and disposal also creates more hazardous waste.

I'm sure that graphics pros prefer the color accuracy of a calibrated CRT, but for the rest of the world, LCDs are plenty good enough. If you get a decent LCD and graphics card, the response time isn't bad either. It isn't as good as a CRT, but it's other advantages outweigh any shortcomings there too.

I use a headset with my cell phone. I know a woman who got a tumor behind her ear from using a cell phone. She lost hearing in that ear. Don't believe it when the cell phone indusrty sponsors studies about cell phone safety. The signal at the phone needs to be hundreds of times more powerful than it is by the time it reaches the tower, so it can't be a good idea to put those microwaves next to your brain.

I agree with you 1000%. Not to mention CRTs are cheaper and physically more rugged too.

Some people will purchase anything "trendy" I guess.

There is just no accounting for people's tastes (or lack thereof)!!

Refresh rate or "flicker" causes immense strain on the eyes.
CRT's ALL have it.

LCD's do not.
