It's got to be Buzz Jungle Party. It's aimed at children and if my 3 year old daughter can have a blast playing it then a 5 year should have no problem. It's a collection of 40 or so mini games where you have to match colors, rythm, etc. Fun for adults to although not too taxing...
Also as mentioned by someone else here the Lego Star Wars games are good for kids as you don't die in them you just lose money and theres always something to do....

My 5 year old loves both the Lego Star Wars games.
Other games that are good for a 5 year old are Nicktoons Unite!, Sponge Bob Square Pants: Lights, Camera, PANTS!, Cars, Flushed Away and Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure.
All of these are rated "E" and are not too difficult as to get a 5 year old frustrated.

Uhmm at 5yrs old I was out playing on the swingset or in the snow or with friends not staring at the tv all day playing video games.
