It is no joke, we learned how to create the Middle Class after the Great Depression of 1929. And the poverty of America went from universal to spotted around the Country. The tax codes were invented and expanded to redistribute the wealth to more people in the society. Before that it was pretty much dog eat dog and the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. Welfare was part of the solution, Social Security, The Conservation Corp and many other economic based organizations and practices were created to avoid the pressure to draw money into the rich class and out of the poorer classes.
Many would scream at this notion, but the United States created the greatest Middle Class in the history of mankind from 1930 to 1970 as a result of the Franklin D. Roosevelt New Deal which was at the heart of the miracle of the American economic growth and distribution.
One other instrument that must be mentioned was the creation of the progressive tax plan which was part of the New Deal. It basically assured a will financed government that could build the Country and distribute the rewards from coast to coast and corner to corner of America.
The Progressive Tax invention saw to it that the more money a person earned, a higher rate of taxes would be levied on the person. In this way, the money was enough to grow the infrastructure of America and pay American to do the work.
A second New Deal is needed to do it again.
Yes, poverty can be eradicated.

There is poverty in every country, even the wealthiest. Probably the best way to eradicate poverty in the US is to do what other countries do...get rid of unemployment benefits, food stamps and aid...and get people off their butts and to work. If someone is out of work it won't kill them to clean toilets for minimum wage...especially if it means eating or not eating. Even those with white collar jobs today, if they are without the job tomorrow toilets still need cleaning and food still needs to get on the table. People in the US feel they are too good for the hard jobs...this is why the immigrants are in the US ...they are willing to work hard for lower than minimum wages.

The stoppage of huge lawsuits would also help. The US is a suit-happy country.

Simple and easy approach in my opinion is;
Share your extra money helping for the higher education of the poor who cannot afford. May be your near/far relatives or neighbours,friends or colleagues
If everybody helps others to get higher education, then they themselves will become rich and this way poverty can be eradicated from this world too.

Kill all those non productive and those live under poverty line to eradicate the poverty in any country! All the governments allocate and spend a major part of their national budget for the upliftment of those who claim as poor but if you enter their poor homes you will see all kinds of electronic gadgets for entrtainnment etc. The fellow who pays the Income and other taxes, pay it with his blood....His necessary needs end with a minimum purchase with his maximum earnings!!!!

1) Everyone involved in political office should receive minimum wage, even the prez.
2) Instead of sinking billions abroad, use it within our own nation. 3) Raise minimum wage, refer to#1 and it even benefits politicians. 4) Eliminate welfare for those who are not trying to better themselves immediately, for people who are trying, give them a two-year elimination program.

After these four ideas are implemented, there should be enough funds to create a million jobs and fix elderly concerns maybe even a national health care system.

what are you talking about?
Spiritual poverty or economic backwardness.
people are poor just not because they born poor. some are poor because the are lazy. other type they are poor because they are deprived of their rights to live. Majority population in India are poor because of anti-poor policies of the Government, even our GDP is measured by sen-sex index not with social index. I.T revolution may benefit some , may fill the govt treasury. but allocation of funds to social sector is marginally very less.illiteracy is another reason. spiritual poverty is because of not knowing our purpose of existence on Earth. if any one find answer to his purpose of existence, his belief in Devinne Creator behind all the creation, his existence will have it's meaning.

Give good pension to the old people among them.
