Most of the well adjusted decent people in the world have done a significant amount of work in childhood. Of course there is a limit.

Hi. In Canada and The United States of America, we as a population of "freedom" would never send our children to work. Not until they are 15 or 16 years of age. We believe children should play, go to school, do chores at home, help a grandparent but not actually have a job to earn money for food.
In other countries, child labour is acceptable because food is very high priced. Parents may be sick, elderly or have many children and can not earn enough at their job, and need more income. In some countries, work is a normal daily activity for all members of a family.
And, there was a time when families all over the earth worked: children helped harvest crops, plant crops, milk cattle, bake bread, scrub dishes, scrub clothing in hot water, twist the water out of the clothing and hang them to dry. Gathering chicken eggs was the job of pre-schoolers.
We have forgotten our own Great Grandparents childhood and their parents child hood. Child labour was once very normal and therefore acceptable. It just wasn't called child labour, it was called chores!
These children do have a childhood. They do play! They are proud to help their family. I have seen documentaries on this subject, and the children seem happy.

Child labor is out of control. And it's terrible that some how we all support it since we all buy the things (even without knowledge of it) that these children are slaving all day to make, even though it earns them probably enough for a piece of bread.

Sometimes I wonder why it even has to happen. Why the children? How did they get sucked in to this?

You would think it's evil if someone cancelled your childhood!
