i agree with slappy mcstretchnuts, my husband has been in the army almost 9 years now r u seriously going to tell me that he should have seen this war coming i don't think so .he is in iraq for the second time now. he does what he is told he is a possession of the government now. they don't have a say in what they do that is up to the people we as a country elected into office. our troops sometimes have no other options but to go into the military. they do it to provide for there family or get an education. the military gives some people a way out of the dead end lives they are leading. no matter what you think of the war and the pres don't say that the troops knew they consequences. they are fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who put their lives on the line every single day for people like you and me who sit at home only talking about what is going on instead of actually seeing it. i am proud of my soldier and what he does for this country and my only hope is to see this situation resolved quickly and have our troops come home safely and as soon as possible.

My husband joined the Army before the war started and has been to Iraq once. He did not join knowing we would go to war. It's kind of hard to say that all military sign up knowing what they are going to get into, because when some joined, this war was not in the picture. Sometimes, when people join the military, they aren't told the entire truth about how it works either. Some people really have no idea what they are really getting into. As for the war itself, i for one just pray for our troops safe and speedy return and hope i never have to say goodbye to my husband again. But as to why some people bash the president for this, i do not agree with the war, but i can't really lay blaim.

Speaking of consequences... what are the consequences for misquiding the public about the reasons for going to war, promising Iraqi oil will pay for most of it, and it will be like "liberating Paris', disregarding the warnings of your top generals and diplomats and then commiting soldiers to the single biggest strategic military blunder in over 30 years?
I mean aside from losing both houses of Congress.
Geez, if you're not obsessing on things you think justify your unhappiness, you're perplexed about why people don't place a haigher value on life, practicality, integrity and competence.

There's a difference between joining the military and being sent to war. Bush didn't make them join the military, but he sure as hell made them go to Iraq. He's called the commander in chief for a reason, you know.
Not offering an opinion one way or another on the war itself, just correcting your premise.

I'm not mad at the man. I mad because i still do not have a clear understanding of why we are in iraq. Shouldn't we be trying to get bin laden. Why Suddam. That's stupid. bin laden is makin movies about how he did it. He is laughin in our face, and troops are dyin everyday. This war is pointless and yes they signed up but if i was a troop i would want to fight a war that had a real reason, and not because the president has nothin else to do in his spare time.

I agree with ya when they sign those papers they should know the responsibilities of war and what they may be facing. Most of them went on their own to fight for our country they knew there was a chance they might not make it back home.. But they are very supported by me for the work that they do.. My uncle was gone from his family for about two years and he made his rounds to the family because he knew what he would be facing

They should be sent to war if the war was actually necessary. But this war is for oil. Bush is a moron. A trained baboon could speak better english than Bush. In my opinion, I don't like war. If all the leaders actually had any brains we could live together without hate or war.

ask your self again... why did they join the army? simply because they wanted to kick ***. i bet there are so many social and economic reasons behind their decision. and just because they joined doesn't meant that they deserve to die because of a really stupid, selfish president.
people of America deserves better... specially the people who went into Iraq.

For some it is the only way to get a higher education and it is simply bad luck and bad timing for them that they have to go overseas....
But what do I know, I'm just a silly Canadian.
