we have to remember that beside its function to cater us with news and information, newspaper too is a business oriented organization. sensationalism is sumtimes a must for them to sell the newspaper. its not fair to judge them from the way they sensationalize the news. news value too consist of event which can attract people to read - the human interest value. sumtimes sensational news can be an eye opener for certain parties to take things seriously.

yellow journalism is what ppl like to read in the newspapers now a days, the time has gone wen ppl had times to read the articles n editorials related to political, economicc or say any social issues of country or world now is the time of hurry n luxury................they jus go through the healines n get the crux of the story, dats it, otherwise crunchy stories pertainning to lifestyles or personal lives allure them the most..........one more reason can be the increasing competition amongst the newspaper groups coz they r to sell their productn they wud have to cater the needs n demands of the readers

i think while reporting news, papers also want to sell papers which they believe requires giving us the news that most want to read, sensationalism, which sadly enough is true. an article about Mel Gibson's arrest will gain more publicity than the 7 year old who saved his mother by climbing into her lap when she passed out while driving, stopped the car, and called 911 for her!!

sensationalism for profit. yet , when a hero is needed they do not respond out of flashy glitter to perform for the media.nor for money. if it comes at all, it is much latter.but the hero is not bought. as in. " the two sides of the Sun".
